Executive Editor Jobs

Executive editors are responsible for implementing review and decision-making processes to ensure publications of high relevance.
An executive editor shall be responsible for managing the editorial processing of papers submitted to the publication. This shall involve: handling the submissions inbox; making an initial assessment of whether submissions are consistent with the publication's declared aims and scope; taking decisions on and approaching suitable referees; and ensuring that referee reports are delivered and suitable actions taken.
The executive editor will also be responsible for liaison with associate editors and the editorial advisory board, and for arranging associated annual meetings. These tasks shall be conducted in consultation with and assisted by the editor-in-chief. The executive editor may also draft editorials based around published papers, or arrange for such editorials from other experts.
If and as the scale of operations expands, the executive editor shall be responsible for devising an appropriate management strategy for fulfilling the Editorial responsibilities.
Candidates should have a proven ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team; good written and oral communication skills, to enable effective communication skills, to enable effective communication in dealing with authors and reviews internationally; and good familiarity with standard computer software packages.
Executive editors should have sufficient experience in successfully working in a research – orientated environment; financial administration and budget management; and management and administration of international projects.
