This position requires experience writing aircraft/commodity technical manuals in compliance with TMCR and military specifications. Individuals must have experience with all styles of manuals such as maintenance, illustrated parts breakdowns (IPBs), job guides, flight manuals, checklists, et al. Requires review of engineering drawings and other data relative to operation maintenance, and service of equipment. Individual must have capability to edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers and illustrators. Must be able to draw sketches to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence. Must be knowledgeable of MIL-PRF-83495 OMMS styles manuals. Assigns work to other writers.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Edits, writes and/or rewrites the more difficult technical manuals proficiently
Reviews source data documents and incorporates source data from AFTO 22, 252 and e-mails
Review changes and revisions per Military Specifications and Standards
Maintains quality control of documents
Maintains tracking database
Assigns work to other writers in an organized manner as required
Job Requirements :
Qualifications/Skill and Knowledge:
3 years experience in production of Technical Orders
Thorough knowledge of Military Specifications and Standards
Proficient knowledge of Data Systems
Excellent grammar and proof-reading skills
Excellent interpersonal skills for research and/or document orientation
Ability to work well independently or in a team
Security Clearance Required
Ability to assist or train other writers effectively
Adapts well to changes
Sets priorities effectively and efficiently
Interacts successfully with editorial and government staff
Ensures superior quality
Strong verbal and written communication skills
