The

Technical Service Specialist

will carry out technical service projects in support of Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing and R&D, as well as support outside customers on product-related issues.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The

Technical Service Specialist

will carry out technical service projects in support of Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing and R&D, as well as support outside customers on product-related issues.

The Technical Service Specialist

will manage the customer inquiries, including addressing customer complaints, as well providing product literature and samples. The Technical Service Specialist

will review product specifications and statistical quality control (SQC) activities in support Sales and Marketing. The Technical Service Specialist

will also lead and manage benchmarking, including specification reviews.

This position is located in the Chicago, IL area.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Conduct laboratory experiments to improve current products or specifications.

Help customers to resolve issues with the company’s products

Assist customers to develop new applications for existing products to develop customer loyalty and grow the business.

Assist Sales/Marketing by providing the necessary technical knowledge and support to expand the applications for the company’s products and expand market share.

Support Sales & Marketing in assuring appropriate use of company products in customer applications, as well as verifying regulatory compliance of product applications

Track, monitor and analyze customer complaints, as required, properly and promptly answering customers’ inquiries and meeting business goals for this area.

Carry out SQC analysis in order to provide that data to customers.

Apply SQC analysis to develop or review specifications either for external and internal customers.

Plan and execute completive audits to analyze and benchmark the company’s products against competitive products.

Prepare and issue technical reports or the results of competitive audits so that the business can assess where its products stand.

Provide technical support to R&D and Manufacturing, as well as Sales & Marketing. Support the development of new applications and troubleshooting of product issues by conducting experiments, chemical and physical analysis, and statistical studies.

Job Requirements

BS degree in chemistry or related discipline

5 years experience in a technical discipline in industry e.g. research, development, technical service or production.

A background in quality control, including a working knowledge of a range of wet and dry analytical techniques would be useful.

Experience managing groups or individuals as a project leader or in a similar position.

Good hands-on lab skills

Experience in the oleochemical industry will be helpful

Must be computer literate and able to use a range of programs including SQC and SPC packages
