SUMMARY: The Editorial Assistant is responsible for providing editorial support to the Editorial Director and Executive Editor of FaithWords and Worthy Books. Faithwords is a publisher of the worldu2019s best pastoral and ministry voices in the growing inspirational market; Worthy is an inspirational book publisher specializing in the intersection of faith and culture.u00A0ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Write catalog, cover and promotional copy and prepare fact sheets.Read, evaluate, and report on manuscripts, proposals and other materials submitted for publication through FaithWords and Worthy.Communicate with authors and agents about queries, payments, sales information, etc.Traffic editorial projects through Production, Managing Editorial, and Marketing, and secure appropriate approvals.Enter title data into proprietary database system and track and update data throughout publishing process.Prepare pre-acquisition materials, including profit-and-loss statements.Work closely with authors and shepherd projects through the publication process.Perform administrative duties, as neededu00A0KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:Minimum of 1 year of publishing experience preferred (internships ok) or other editorial work experience.Astute reader and evaluator of potential projects for publication.Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with a strong emphasis on detail.Excellent writing and editorial skills.Demonstrated interest in Christian publishing.Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively while also ensuring accuracy of work and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Solid computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and databases.Polished communication skills (verbal & written) & interpersonal skillsProven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.u00A0As a leading book publisher, we believe that including and representing diverse voices in all aspects of our business is fundamental to what we do.
