The Video Producer/Editor is a full-time role that supports the National Geographic Channels’ Digital/Social team. They are charged with producing and editing top-quality video creative to support our Television and Documentary Films businesses. Their creative is published on Nat Geo’s social accounts and other digital platforms, and is distributed widely for use in our promotional campaigns.
Create video content per requests made by Directors and Producers, handling every aspect from pre- to post-production, collaborating with and addressing creative feedback from colleagues, and delivering final videos on deadline and to specifications.
Receiving assignments with varying levels of direction (from minimal to a lot).
Creative ideation with digital/social producers on the best way to execute the assignment.
Providing oversight of video creative by other members of video team.
Researching fact-based content and scripting, as needed.
Sourcing footage, music, and graphics packages from third-party and/or in-house libraries.
Performing basic post-production: text graphics, sound design, and color correction.
Circulating rough cuts for creative feedback.
Performing basic QC.
Delivering final files on deadline and to spec; archive video projects.
Occasional videography (camera work, sound, lighting) as needed.
Keeping up with the latest trends in editing techniques and digital platforms; pitching new creative ideas.
Prioritizing own work schedule based on assignment deadlines and levels of priority.
Attending creative brainstorms and tactical meetings with Digital team and the wider Creative Marketing department.
Bachelors degree in digital media or relevant field.
Basic budget tracking; critical thinking and problem solving.
Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition), Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), Project Management Tools (e.g. Asana), Slack.
Atleast 3 years of previous experience creating video content for an agency, production-house or media brand.
Experience with motion graphics, typography, and sound design.
Experience working with 4K footage and LUTs.
Ability to handle occasional videography.
Knowledge of social and streaming platforms, and accompanying formats and best practices.
Ability to perform under pressure and work on multiple projects at once.
Affinity to working in a team environment and liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
