Technical Editor


The Technical Editor responsibilities include formatting, editing, and preparation of reports, briefings and other documents as well as preparing briefing and report templates, and training and assisting team members and partners.


The DoD Red Team Technical Editor shall:

Edit technical reports, briefings, and other documents generated by the DoD Red Team.

Provide briefing and report templates to team members and partners, train and work with team members and partners in preparing reports.

Archive reports and documents.

Assist in establishing report processing procedures.

Serve as the authority on document marking and classification guidance.

Develop and update a report writing guide to assist employees in writing professional reports. The writing guide shall be updated on an annual basis and include a list of commonly used Acronyms and Lexicon.

Develop and maintain a Report Tracker containing report milestones, provide the Report Tracker to DoD Red Team Leadership weekly.

At the direction of the Program Manager, develop products to support DoD Red Team operations and administration.

Developing common observations for special presentations such as Annual Reports, Customer Program Reviews, and Senior Leader Briefings.

Manage DoD Red Team databases; compile, verify accuracy and sort information according to priorities to prepare source data for computer entry; review data for deficiencies or errors, correct any incompatibilities if possible and check output; generate reports, store completed work in designated locations and perform backup operations

Required Skills/Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or minimum 5 years of closely related technical editing experience.

Ability to coordinate program activities involving multiple government agencies external to DTRA and within the agency to include contractors.

Ability to support multiple programs; multi-tasking ability critical.

Excellent time management skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to prepare power-point presentations, reports, and white papers.

Ability to prepare correspondence for senior leadership (military or civilian).

Experience handling and marking classified materials, experience with classified computer systems.

Experience preparing classified documents for final distribution outside working SCIF.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

TS/SCI Security Clearance required

Desired Skills/Qualifications

Experience working in a SCIF environment.

Knowledge of CONUS/OCONUS military/government operations.
